The Hidden Beast
The Hidden Beast is a portrait project that follows a person’s imagination as they deal with a creature hidden within. The cause of this phenomenon is due to a lack of social interaction, having nobody to worry or care for this person. This work involves the subject taking pictures of themselves in different locations as they deal with a beast waiting to be unleashed. One thing that is prevalent throughout this work is the subject’s eyes changing color. Since the beast is hidden, it does not have a physical form. Instead, the subject acts as a host for the beast to possess. The change in eye color indicates the beast is the one present, not the subject.
There are always two sides to everything story. In this case, there is a division between two halves of the same person. What do I feel when I am caught in between a world that is in a blue world and an orange world?
What happens to a person when they are in a room by themselves, isolated from the outside world? Within my mind, my thoughts are turning quickly like electricity, but my eyes only see pain.
In this print, the beast’s that has been kept in my body can no longer hold itself in anymore. There is a creature hidden within the body that once belonged to a kind kid. The only thing I can see is red, blood red.
Behind every mask, there is a hidden dark secret about a person. Everyone has a persona they do not want the world to see. A mask could either be a way of keeping everything in check, or protecting the world from see what is waiting to be unleashed.
